MEREC participates in the 3rd Edition of the Mozambique Agribusiness, Industry and Logistic Forum of ACIS Moçambique ACIS Moçambique
The 3rd Edition of the Mozambique Agribusiness, Industry, and Logistic Forum of ACIS Moçambique, took place on August 17, 2023, in the City of Beira, and was attended by His Excellency, the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Silvino Moreno.
A MEREC esteve representada pela sua Gestora de Unidade de Negócios de Rações, Susana da Silveira Bretao Machado Luciano, who contributed to the panel of speakers, sharing the experience of MEREC INDUSTRIES, in its 24 years of existence.
For our Feed Business Unit Manager, participating in this event was a tremendous pleasure, as it not only allowed her to hear about new experiences and ideas but also provided a space where she could share her own experience and that of MEREC, which, in her own words:
"Despite all the difficulties and obstacles that MEREC faced during its 24 years, we continue to bet on, empower people, innovate, invest in cutting-edge technology and quality, and still grow in the value chain. MEREC supports the eighth edition of the Scientific Conference of the Machava Sede Secondary School
On August 11, 2023, we had the pleasure of supporting and witnessing the eighth edition of the Scientific Conference of the Machava Sede Secondary School, which saw the participation of about 30 students from this institution.
The objective of this conference is to encourage students from the preparatory phase to develop research and project development skills, as well as to add value to their studies.
As MEREC, we believe that young people are a very important part of the development of any society, and it was in this sense that we supported these types of initiatives aimed at adding value so that young people can have a better future.

MEREC participates in the Market Place of the XVIII Annual Private Sector Conference (CASP).
We participated on June 21, 2023, in the Market Place of the XVIII Annual Private Sector Conference (CASP), organized by the CTA. The objective of the Market Place is to create a healthy business environment, allowing companies the opportunity to present their businesses to potential clients, and in turn, enabling these clients to discover potential suppliers for their businesses.
MEREC was represented at the event by its Procurement Director, Antu Ghadage, who saw this initiative as a positive tool for the local business.

MEREC, through its dog food brand, Kulukaa, sponsored the first Dog Walk. AQI 2023, which took place last Saturday, June 17th.
This event, organized by AQi, aimed to create interaction between dog owners and their pets, as well as to showcase the available product options for them in stores. AQI, o qual a Kulukaa faz parte.
At this event, we had the opportunity to interact with dog owners and explain the benefits of our dog food.
In partnership with the Repensar Environmental Education Cooperative, MEREC launches an initiative on the importance of environmental prevention and waste management.
We launched an initiative in partnership with Cooperativa de Educação Ambiental RepensarWe launched an initiative in partnership with [nome da organização], aimed at reinforcing the work already being done by them in Ecological Schools, focusing on the importance of environmental prevention and waste management. This initiative involves the promotion of good practices, as well as the dissemination of existing ecological clubs in schools, so that more children can participate and become ambassadors of good environmental practices.
The launch of the initiative coincided with the month of the Child and Environmental Prevention and will last for 3 months, covering several schools in the Province of Maputo. So far, activities have been conducted in 2 schools: Machava SEDE Complete Primary School and Triunfo Complete Primary School.
MEREC sponsored the 1st Genetically Improved Cattle Auction of 2023.
The event took place last Saturday, May 13th, at Simtaurus Farm, Porto Henrique, in the Namaacha District. The main objective of this Auction is to boost cattle production in Mozambique by bringing improved cattle to the meat and milk production sector. The event was attended by His Excellency the Governor of Maputo Province, Júlio Parruque, and more than 100 participants, including national and foreign breeders, as well as enthusiasts and practitioners of agriculture. MEREC was represented with its brand of FORTE animal feed and once again showcased its range of feed for cattle and other livestock.
A MEREC Industries, SA firmou um acordo de parceria com o jovem piloto Paulo Ramjee, que participa do Campeonato de Motores Modificados da Classe B, a decorrer na Cidade de Maputo. Paulo Ramjee é um piloto jovem com uma larga experiência no desporto motorizado, tendo iniciado a sua carreira ainda na sua infância, nos karts, e este será o seu primeiro ano numa competição de motores modificados. O campeonato teve início no dia 22 de abril, onde o piloto Paulo Ramjee classificou-se na primeira posição da sua categoria, neste primeiro dia de corridas. Para a MEREC, apoiar jovens como o Paulo, é apoiar Moçambique a desenvolver talentos, assim como elevar o nome do país cada vez mais alto.
Launch of the 2nd National Food Fortification Strategy
Participamos da cerimónia de lançamento da II Estratégia Nacional de Fortificação de Alimentos, realizada no passado dia 29 de Março, que contou com a presença de S.Excia o Ministro da Indústria e Comércio, Silvino Moreno, onde estivemos representados pela nossa Directora de Qualidade, Dra. Mualide de Sousa Esta nova fase, da estratégia irá integrar e cobrir mais indústrias, isto para permitir uma maior abrangência a nível dos produtos alimentares disponíveis no mercado, e também para apoiar a estratégia nacional de combate a desnutrição crónica. Para além, da acção acima, foram também abordados temas como, a melhoria do controle das fronteiras, de modo a permitir que apenas produtos devidamente certificados entrem no país, e também a necessidade da revisão da actual legislação e sustentabilidade do programa de fortificação O evento contou com a participação dos membros do CONFAM. Salientar que todos produtos fornecidos pela MEREC, farinhas de trigo e milho são fortificadas, assim como todos derivados destas, são produzidos através de farinhas fortificadas.
MEREC and FERNETO train bakeries in "Good Baking Practices
A Merec e a FERNETO realizaram de 27 de fevereiro à 14 de março, um workshop de capacitação sobre “Boas práticas de panificação” para alguns dos seus clientes das Cidades de Maputo, Matola, Beira e Nampula. O workshop foi orientado pelo Mestre Ernesto Fernandes, vindo de Portugal, com experiência no ramo de panificação quer em Moçambique, como em Portugal. Para além da parte teórica, houve também a parte prática guiada pelo mesmo. O objectivo desta capacitação foi de aperfeiçoar ferramentas que permitem aos nossos clientes a terem melhor destreza e ‘know how’ na manipulação das nossas farinhas de trigo para a produção de Pão tradicional, Arrufadas, Broa de Milho, entre outros.
Os padeiros foram igualmente capacitados para um melhor uso dos principais equipamentos do ramo.
Foram também abordados temas como: – Receitas tracionais do nosso mercado e erros frequentemente cometidos; – Diferentes tipos de farinhas para diferentes finalidades de produtos; – Optimização das massas para melhor desempenho e ganho; – Melhorantes| Correctores ;
O pão é um dos principais alimentos das famílias moçambicanas, daí que acreditamos que com a melhoria das práticas e com investimento em novas técnicas, os nossos clientes continuarão a fazer chegar às famílias moçambicanas, um pão com ainda mais qualidade.
