 Esta iniciativa surge no âmbito do nosso compromisso contínuo com a comunidade da Machava, onde estão localizados os nossos complexos industriais. 
 
 Mais do que produzir alimentos, reforçamos o nosso compromisso de contribuir para a formação de uma geração mais preparada, confiante e capaz de transformar o amanhã

MEREC SUPPORTS MACHAVA COMMUNITY FOOBALL TEAM WITH EQUIPMENT

MEREC alongside the youth of Machava Socimol KM15

It is with great satisfaction that MEREC supported the community football team of the Machava Socimol KM15 neighbourhood with sports equipment. The team is made up of young people aged between 17 and 26, most of them students and local residents.

This group was created with a noble mission: to keep young people away from harmful habits and crime, bringing them closer to values that build lives - discipline, responsibility, cooperation, and team spirit.

Our support goes beyond football. We want to create conditions for these young people to develop their talents, strengthen their self-confidence, and become an inspiration to those around them.

At MEREC, we believe that taking care of the community means taking care of our own. It means extending a helping hand, opening opportunities, and walking together toward a better future.

2nd Edition of the Chef Baía Mall Competition

2nd Edition of the Chef Baía Mall Competition

For the second consecutive year, Baía Mall held the Chef Baía Mall competition, and we had the honour of seeing our DAVINCI pasta shine as the star of the event.

The challenge brought together talented chefs who put their creativity and passion for gastronomy to the test, preparing unique recipes using our pasta. After a close competition, the grand winner was Chef Jorge, to whom we extend our congratulations!

For DAVINCI, being present at this moment is a source of great pride. It confirms that we continue on the right path - offering excellent products to our consumers while also supporting and valuing local gastronomic culture.

And we will not stop here. We will continue supporting initiatives like this and, who knows, in future editions we may bring even more brands from our portfolio to shine.

MEREC Joins the Celebration of the 118th Anniversary of the City of Beira

In honour of the celebration of the 118th anniversary of the City of Beira, which will take place on 20 August 2025, MEREC offered, on 12 August, 20 boxes of Bela pasta and 20 bags of 50 kg of Mpupu Corn Flour to the local Municipality to support the festivities.

The delivery was made at MEREC Beira by the Regional Director for the Central Region, SANJAY RAVAL, to the Municipal Director of Industry and Commerce, Glória Chidengo, in a gesture that reinforces the company’s commitment to the communities where it operates.

More than supporting the celebrations, this donation demonstrates MEREC’s role in valuing cultural identity and our commitment to strengthening community ties, reaffirming the importance of partnerships that promote local and social development.

MEREC Joins Repensar for a Cleanup in Machava for World Environment Day

In celebration of World Environment Day, we participated last Saturday, 7th of June, in an awareness walk and waste collection activity in our Machava-Sede community. The initiative was organised by the Environmental Education Cooperative Repensar. Cooperativa de Educação Ambiental Repensar.

It was a morning marked by unity, collective effort, and a commitment to a cleaner future.

We counted on the active participation of our employees and local residents, who worked together - hands on the ground and hearts committed to the cause.

This action reinforces our belief that together we can make a difference.


We, the Machava-Sede Community, thank REPENSAR for the initiative.

MEREC PARTICIPATE IN THE MOZEXPORT CONFERENCE

MEREC Industries, SU, SA participated yesterday, 27 May, in the MozExport Conference held in Maputo Province under the theme: “Diversifying and Increasing Exports in the Preferential Market.”

The event, organised by the Ministry of Economy and the Provincial Executive Council, was attended by His Excellency Governor Manuel Simão Tule.

In addition to debates and reflections on export opportunities and challenges, the event highlighted national companies that are already a reference in export markets—such as MEREC in Southern Africa

We thank the organisers for the initiative and the invitation, reaffirming our mission to bring the best of Mozambique to Africa and the world.

MEREC PARTICIPATES IN THE ANNUAL REVIEW MEETING OF THE NATIONAL FOOD FORTIFICATION PROGRAMME

We participated today in the annual review meeting of the National Food Fortification Programme, attended by His Excellency the Minister of Economy, Basílio Muate, and the Director of Quality, Mualide de Sousa, representing MEREC.

Our participation once again reinforces the importance of complying with food fortification standards in Mozambique, as well as our commitment to consumer education.

As the largest food industry in Mozambique, we are proud to have been pioneers in this programme, to remain the industry with the largest volume of fortified products in the country, and to contribute to the programme’s objective: through food fortification, reducing the high rates of chronic malnutrition, which mainly affects children under 5 in Mozambique.

Together, we can fight child malnutrition.

PASTA WITH PRAWNS

PASTA WITH PRAWNS

Ingredients

  • Spaghetti Davinci to taste
  • 500 grams of prawns
  • 50 ml olive oil
  • 50 ml tomato pulp
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 medium onion
  • Pepper to taste
  • Piri-piri / Chilli (if desired)
  • Salt to taste
  • Parsley leaves to taste

Preparation

  1. Cook the Davinci spaghetti pasta in salted water
  2. Sauté the onion and chopped garlic in a pan with olive oil
  3. Add the tomatoes and thawed prawns
  4. Season with salt, pepper and chilli. Leave to cook
  5. Remove the water from the spaghetti and mix with the prawn sauce
  6. Serve and garnish with parsley, if desired.

CORNFLOUR CAKE

CORNFLOUR CAKE

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of cornflour First Choice
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup of milk
  • Half a cup of oil
  • 1 and a half cups of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

Preparation

  1. Put the eggs in a bowl and beat until they are completely liquid
  2. Once mixed, add the milk, oil and sugar. Mix again until the mixture is smooth
  3. Once this is done, add the cornflour. We recommend adding it little by little and whisking while you add it.
  4. Add the yeast and stir gently
  5. Place all the previously prepared dough in a greased and floured mould. It should be a very light and liquid dough
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 180ºC for approximately 40 minutes. Please note that this time varies from oven to oven. If the toothpick comes out dry, it's time to take the cake out.
